Brake discs

A disc brake is a brake where the working part is a disc braked by the pressure of the brake pads. The brake disc is mounted on the braked rotor and rotates with it. During braking, the kinetic energy of the vehicle changes to heat and the brake disc heats up considerably. Therefore, it is often equipped with a system of ducts on the inside through which air passes, which helps cooling. More seldomly in normal operation, manufacturers also use discs which are equipped with drilled holes. This has advantages in the rainy conditions, where the openings help to dissipate water and water vapor and thus improve the braking effect. Brake discs gradually wear out during operation.

PENAX offers brake discs for most motor vehicles and trailers from leading manufacturers like Wabco, Knorr-Bremse and Haldex.
