Relay valves

Relay valves are used to quickly aerate and deaerate pneumatic devices and thus to reduce the reaction time and the rise time of brake pressure in air brake systems.

In addition, there may be relay valves in plastic design on the vehicles, which, however, only serve to control the spring part of the Tristop cylinder, to quickly aerate and deaerate upon activation of the parking brake valve. Plastic relay valves are therefore only intended for parking brake circuits.

Another type of relay valve is a countercurrent valve. Its task is to prevent the sum of braking forces in the combined cylinders when the service brake and the parking brake are activated at the same time.

At Penax, we offer relay valves of all types from leading manufacturers Wabco, Knorr-Bremse and Haldex.
