Trailer control valves

Trailer control valves are used in trucks, tractors and buses. Their task is to sensitively regulate the brake system of the trailer. Control valves exist either with or without advance. Control follows via the trailer's dual-circuit brake system in combination with a dual-circuit pedal brake and a handbrake valve for spring cylinders.

If the line has been interrupted or the trailer brake line simply isn't connected, depressing the foot brake will restrict the supply air flow (filling line) from the motor vehicle to the trailer while reducing the pressure in the trailer supply line. This condition automatically brakes the trailer immediately. In articulated buses, a trailer control valve (without a two-way valve) is often used to control the dual-circuit service brake of the third axle. Modern vehicles with EBS systems already use electrically operated trailer control valves.

At Penax, we offer trailer control valves from the leading manufacturers Wabco, Knorr-Bremse and Haldex.
